Katsunori Hirano
Katsunori Hirano serves as Pacific Environment’s japan climate specialist. Prior to joining Pacific Environment, Katsunori worked for the Shizuoka Prefectural Government in Japan, where he was most committed to energy and environmental policymaking, regional foreign diplomacy, inbound tourism promotion, cultural diversity and social inclusiveness issues, disaster preparedness practices, plus liaising with leaders of local municipalities, communities, and businesses. He also assumed a double role as a government-appointed diplomat in the United States and as visiting fellow at Stanford University, where he acted as a key liaison.
Katsunori holds a Bachelor of Law from Chuo University, in Tokyo, Japan, and a Master of Arts in urban affairs and public policy with a concentration in energy and environmental policy from the University of Delaware. He also completed the Corporate Affiliate Visiting Fellow Program at Stanford University. Katsunori is based in Shizuoka, Japan.
