Hyunju Kang

Republic of Korea Country Director (She/Her/Hers)

Hyunju Kang serves as Pacific Environment’s Republic of Korea Country Director, supporting our efforts to get ships off fossil fuels. Prior to joining Pacific Environment, Hyunju worked as an international project coordinator with HelpAge Korea in Cambodia, developing projects for vulnerable seniors; oversaw projects and international volunteers in Cambodia for the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA); led the global citizenship education team for the Beautiful Store Foundation, scoping and implementing a range of projects from youth development to sustainability; led the social project planning team at Hope Institute, overseeing the development and implementation of community-based projects and programs focused on the social good; and, most recently, served as a country advisor for Give2Asia, providing assessments on how global corporations can reduce their carbon footprint.

Hyunju has significant research experience across several sectors, and experience working both domestically in South Korea as well as internationally. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Tourism and Commerce from the University of Dong-A and a master’s degree in International Development Cooperation and International Development Consulting from the University of Kyunghee, International graduate school. Hyunju is based in South Korea.
