California delegation heads to Europe for Clean Shipping Tour
Pacific Environment and partners organize tour to connect California policymakers with cutting-edge technologies and best practices
This week, a California delegation will embark on a fact-finding tour across Europe to explore how global leaders are tackling maritime pollution, accelerating zero-emission shipping, and building climate-resilient port infrastructure.
Organized by Pacific Environment and partners, the tour will connect California policymakers and stakeholders with cutting-edge port technology, fuel innovation and regulatory best practices in the European Union.

Some highlights of the tour will include:
- Visit with Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping
- Tour Everllence (formerly known as MAN Energy Solutions)
- Discussions with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Denmark’s State of Green
- Roundtable and tours with the Port of Copenhagen and Rotterdam
- Working lunch with the European Community Shipownersʼ Association (ECSA)
- Briefings with the European Commission’s DG CLIMA and DG MOVE
- Engagement with labor leaders from ETF/ITF
Each day will feature in-depth briefings, site visits and stakeholder exchanges across the maritime value chain. These engagements offer a window into the strategies, diverse tools and approaches used by European governments, industries and institutions as they explore pathways to maritime sector improvements.
The tour aims to foster cross-cultural learning and long term collaboration because transforming global shipping will take collective insight and shared leadership.
