Nguyen Viet Dung

Vietnam Consultant

Nguyen Viet Dung is managing Pacific Environment’s ocean trash campaign in Vietnam and helping develop our coastal conservation portfolio in Asia.

Dung brings strategic vision, a passion for policy, and experience working in coalitions. A co-founder of Vietnamese NGO PanNature, he served as its Deputy Director for Policy. In this role, Dung successfully demonstrated that NGOs can help shape national policy in Vietnam—something that no one had done before. After 13 years at PanNature, Dung is ready for a new challenge: strengthening marine conservation and empowering coastal communities to seek environmental justice.

Prior to PanNature, Dung worked on forestry policy and biodiversity hotspots for World Wildlife Fund and in various conservation positions in Vietnam’s provincial and federal government. Dung received a Master of Science in Human Ecology from Vrije Universiteit Brussels, Belgium, and he has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Vinh University, Vietnam.
