Barbara J. Chisholm
Barbara J. Chisholm (“BJ”) is a partner at the San Francisco law firm Altshuler Berzon LLP, specializing in litigation of environmental, labor and employment, constitutional, campaign and election, and civil rights issues. She regularly represents environmental organizations and individuals in complex environmental cases, seeking to enforce federal and state environmental laws.
For five years, she worked in the Russian Far East, where she was the founder and Director of the Russian Far East branch of ISAR, an organization working on environmental and civil society issues in the countries of the former Soviet Union. BJ was a CLAY award winner in 2013 for Voter Rights based on her involvement in a voting rights case in Ohio. She is currently a member of the Board of Governors of Public Advocates. She has previously served on the boards of the Bay Area Lawyers’ Chapter of the American Constitution Society and AIDS Legal Referral Panel, and on the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment Section of the California State Bar. BJ is a graduate of Swarthmore College and holds a J.D. from Howard University School of Law.
