Pacific Environment seeks a full-time Administrative Assistant to support our Executive, Advancement, and Finance & Operations teams. This position is well-suited for someone who is detail-oriented, enjoys managing both short- and long-term projects, is interested in understanding how nonprofits operate, and has a passion for environmental issues.

You will work across teams, coordinating with Executive leaders and the Advancement and Finance & Operations teams, to support scheduling, travel arrangements, meeting preparation, technology and office needs, and more. This position will offer insight into the inner workings of a high-impact nonprofit working to end the climate crisis and achieve environmental justice. It has strong potential for growth and promotion.

Location and Travel

Pacific Environment staff currently work from home. Greater San Francisco Bay Area local applicants are strongly preferred. This position may require some travel.


  • Support scheduling for Pacific Environment’s Executive Team, Advancement Director, and Finance & Operations staff as needed.
  • Provide logistical support for Pacific Environment meetings or events.
  • Support the team’s expense report submissions.
  • Arrange travel plans (flights, hotels, etc.) for staff as needed.
  • Assist with technology issues as they arise.
  • Meet supply needs for colleagues, including supporting office needs for physical offices and remote workplaces.
  • Assist with planning of Board meetings, organizational retreats, social activities, partner or funder dinners, parties, and holiday events.
  • Assist with special projects as needed and manage other tasks as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Previous work experience, particularly with environmental and social change organizations, a plus.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and quality of work product.
  • Ability to problem-solve and take ownership of assigned tasks.
  • Discretion in maintaining confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience with Dropbox and Microsoft Suite a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Pacific Environment provides compensation commensurate with experience and equitable with others on our team, plus a full benefits package for staff positions. The salary range for this position is $52,000-$62,000, which is carefully considered to account for equity, and the final offer will be based on candidate’s qualifications. The employee will enjoy a flexible working environment with a dedicated, diverse group of colleagues.

Physical Requirements

The Administrative Assistant’s work involves remaining in a stationary position and looking at a computer for long stretches of time, communicating with co-workers electronically, and occasional travel (including overnight travel), in-person meetings, or events. The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
