Keep LNG off of our shores!

The Long Beach Harbor Commission’s vote to stop the Mitsubishi/ConocoPhillips LNG project is a HUGE milestone in our fight for clean energy and safe communities. It’s cause for celebration when grassroots activism stops two multinational corporations!

But our fight is not over! We have to guarantee the end of the Mitsubishi/ConocoPhillips project and leverage our victory for communities up and down the coast.

There are three things you can do to build on our success:

Keep up the pressure in Long Beach: SES’ legal threats to keep its LNG project alive require swift, firm action. Thank decision-makers for their opposition but let them know that you are still concerned. Follow up with calls to your council office, letters to the editor and involvement in the 6th District Special Election.

Voice your opposition to the BHP Billiton Oxnard Project: A similar LNG project, “Cabrillo Port,” has been proposed by Australian resources giant BHP Billiton for offshore Oxnard. It would dump over 200 tons of air pollutants into Ventura/LA County air basins and run a high-capacity pipeline through Oxnard. The California State Lands Commission will be voting on the project in the next few weeks. Contact these two commissioners to voice your opposition:
